For this project we were to design a special edition collaboration yacht with Sanlorenzo and a brand of our choice. I chose to collaborate with Porsche because of the similarities between the brands and their clientele, along with their expression in design.

The goal was to design a luxury escape using a unique blend of simplified forms that stay true to the Porsche brand and are expressed through the use of rich materials and design features throughout the yacht. Designated areas are designed to promote both relaxation and activity where the client and their guests can connect with one another and the surrounding nature.

The Design Guidelines used for this project were as follows:

• Geometries – Linear vs. Curvilinear

  • The form of the space is created using both curvilinear and linear geometries within the layout and interior design elements.

• Design Protocol – Symmetry & Balance

  • The seamless way in which the linear and curvilinear geometries align with one another generates proportionality and poise within the design, cultivating an aesthetic true to the soul of Porsche.

• Spatial - Secondary spaces gradually increase to create primary spaces

  • The harmonious flow throughout the interior and exterior is expressed through the use of materials that tell a story from one space to the next, using thresholds and pathway lighting to unify the overall design story.

• Materiality - Using a sophisticated palette of materials, the design tells a story that fuses the past with the present.

  • The juxtaposition of the natural, rich materials with man-made, technology & industrial- driven materials come together to forge an alluring experience that embodies both luxury and sport.

• Styling – Timeless – Purism in Design

  • Using a unique blend of simplified forms that stay true to the Porsche brand and are expressed through the use of rich materials, all while still embracing a key component of their industry: technology and the machine.
